Pacific Industrial Group promotes sustainability management under its brand slogan “Passion In Creating Tomorrow” and is committed to the long-term vision PACIFIC GLOBAL VISION towards 2030, our 100th anniversary of founding, and beyond.

Stadily Promoting Business during Times of Upheaval

As the transition towards a mobility society accelerates including CASE and electrification the environment around our Group becomes increasingly difficult and uncertain due to COVID-19, rising resource prices and restrictions on parts and materials supply, as well the situation in Ukraine.

In these circumstances, the Group has taken steps to prevent infections and promote cost reductions, created a production line to match order fluctuations and secured personnel as well as parts. We have also created the PACIFIC Environmental Challenge 2050 to address social issues like carbon neutrality and SDGs, and are currently working to reduce CO2 emissions.

We promoted the development and sale of products for electrified cars through the stamping industry. These products included ultra-high tensile steel products from the cold press method, which contribute to weight reduction and functional parts like battery cases and those made by forging presses. Also, molding products that contribute wheel caps, sound and vibration insulation, and other products. To meet the growing demand for lighter-weight products, a new plant to stamp products is being constructed adjacent to Higashi Ogaki Plant at Ogaki City (Gifu Prefecture), with an eye towards carbon neutrality.

Our Group company Schrader is our valve company. Together, we develop tire valves. Also, we are developing control valves to heat-pump-type car conditioners. This will be more common in electrified cars.

Initiatives dedicated to

Material Topics

We have identified the key issues of our Group as material topics in 2020 based upon the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and we created major initiatives and KPIs last year based on them.

Our Group’s “Code of Conduct”, as well as our “Supplier Sustainability Guides”, incorporate elements from the material topics. We are working with our suppliers in Japan, overseas, and raising awareness through study sessions and the company newsletter and e-mail magazines.

We are focused on “solving customer and social problems through products” and we are working to reduce cost, weight, and impact through LCA. This is done through our product and material design, construction methods, production technologies, and product development. In recognition of our efforts, 20 awards were received from customers around the world in fiscal 2021. In recognition of our efforts to develop new products using existing technologies, we released “e-WAVES,” which is a multi-sensing log for vaccine transport, last year. This June, “CAPSULE SENSE” was launched. It monitors the condition of cows and helps solve labor shortages in cattle farmers.

Concerning the urgent issue “mitigation and adaptation to climate changes,” we endorsed the TCFD recommendations in May last year. We then worked to improve our analysis of the potential risks and opportunities climate change presents to our Group using scenario analysis techniques. Particularly, in regard to the introduction of renewable energies, we actively promote the installation of solar power generator systems at our domestic as well as overseas plants. We also work to achieve 100% renewable electricity in the Kyushu-Tohoku regions.

Concerning respecting human resources, we are following our human rights due diligence according to our February 2021 human rights policy. In addition, as part of our health initiatives, we were selected under the 2022 Certified Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organizations Recognition Program

(large enterprise category).” We are currently setting targets for the ratio female managers to large enterprise category and increasing the recruitment of female employees in order to allow diverse human resources to take an active role. The future will be even more exciting.

By creating an environment that allows everyone to express their individuality, we will increase diversity and inclusion management.
