Two people were arrested for murder
Muktsar Police: Two people were arrested by the Muktsar police Thursday. They claimed that they had solved a murder that took place in an orchard close to Kingra village on Dec 7. The police said two persons — Mani Singh of Bathinda and Makhan Singh of Kingra — have been arrested. Harjinder Singh, Ferozepur’s fruit contractor, was killed by the duo. TNS
Dengue cases dip
Muktsar: The number of dengue cases has been declining since the temperature dropped. Only 55 cases have been reported in the last two week, bringing the total number to 368. Dr Ranju Singla, Chief Medical Officer, Muktsar, said, “Our teams are regularly working to contain dengue and the results have been positive.” TNS
NCM seeks report on Jalandhar demolition drive
New Delhi: Wednesday’s report by the National Commission for Minorities on the Punjab Government’s evictions of Sikhs in Latifpura (Jalandhar) since 1947 was requested by the National Commission for Minorities. NCM’s chairperson noted that the victims had been evicted without giving any alternative shelter.
